CONVERTED SPACE

  • 280.000 m3

The colleagues demolishing the old EDEKA Minden-Hannover central warehouse got to work with eight excavators at the same time. Two tractors and a wheel loader were at the start. 280,000 square metres of enclosed space had to be removed. In addition to the time pressure, the complex material flow management was a challenge. For example, a lot of polystyrene was used in the floors, ceilings and cold stores. And the colleagues had to deal with weakly bound asbestos-based levelling compounds during the pre-core removal. They also removed 7,000 square metres of wall and ceiling sheeting containing PCBs. After sorting, the rubble was crushed into recycled material and reinstalled on the construction site - as a solid foundation for the new EDEKA Minden-Hannover headquarters, which will be built here by 2024.
