TRAINING WITH DEPTH
Are you about to finish school and still lacking prospects? Then apply to Hagedorn as a skilled civil engineering worker.
What should you bring with you? You should enjoy working outdoors, have the necessary flexibility for assembly work and be keen to work with and sometimes without machines, as these prepare the ground, but in road and canal construction a lot of work is also done with your hands. FAQ CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
WHAT DOES A CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN DO?
When it comes to construction or renovation, civil engineering specialists are in demand. They backfill and compact soil masses, create embankments, ensure surface drainage, create the base for road surfaces and pavements and install base courses. Whether asphalt, paving or concrete surfaces, civil engineering specialists ensure a perfect surface.
HOW DOES THE TRAINING PROGRAMME WORK AND DO I HAVE A CONTACT PERSON?
Anyone starting their training at Hagedorn is accompanied and supported at all times by experienced trainers and foremen. Andy Berghaus is our trainer in civil engineering.
The practical phases alternate between 6 weeks at the craft training centre and 6 weeks at the vocational school. After the two-year apprenticeship, which is spent at vocational school, in vocational training centres, with on-the-job training and on construction sites with your employer, you can specialise in the fields of sewer construction, road construction, well construction or track construction. Hagedorn offers you the opportunity to specialise in road construction.
WHAT ARE MY CHANCES AFTER THE APPRENTICESHIP?
You can develop further, for example to become a foreman, technician or even a graduate engineer. We even support this. Apprentices at Hagedorn learn a lot on our construction sites throughout Germany in addition to vocational school, the craft training centre and in-service training. We also have our own in-house academy to accompany your training.
HOW OFTEN WILL I BE DEPLOYED ON A CONSTRUCTION SITE?
The special thing about our apprenticeship: You can join us on site relatively quickly in line with your training and school schedule. Once you have learnt the necessary theory at vocational school and the craft training centre, you will quickly find your feet on the construction site. The longer you are on board as an apprentice, the more often you will be on the construction site. You will be fully involved in the work, spend the night on site and really get to know construction site life up close. It's like a reality check and you even get paid a bit more on site.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME AS AN APPRENTICE?
In addition to practical training at the HBZ, trainees naturally also attend vocational school. To be able to keep up here, you need at least a secondary school leaving certificate, reasonable maths skills and technical understanding. One thing is clear, as a civil engineering technician you learn about a very wide range of topics, for example there are 30-40 DIN standards that you learn about during your training. Anyone interested can find more information about the training programme on the HBZ Brackwede website.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO AN INTERNSHIP?
We welcome anyone who is interested in becoming a civil engineering technician and are happy to offer you the opportunity of a paid internship during your holidays. Apply directly using the form on our training page.
